Irikkur Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our group is centered around the Irikkur area, and we operate mostly out of the Kuttiattoor Krishibhavan Ecoshop in Chattukappara. We are a collection of local farmers who decided to pool our resources together. It’s a very local effort. You won't find any corporate suits here. We are usually dressed for the fields. We use the eco-shop as a base to handle our products and meet with each other. It’s a handy spot because it’s already connected to the farming community. We spend a lot of time talking about seeds, organic fertilizers, and how to get our produce to the people who want it. The eco-shop is a small place but it’s always busy. We have bags of grain and different local items stacked up. It smells like the earth and fresh produce. Being in Chattukappara means we are right in the middle of where the work happens. We don't have to travel far to see the farms. The Irikkur area has a lot of potential, but the farmers need to stick together to make it work. We spend our evenings at the shop, going over the accounts and planning the next week. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s ours. We take pride in the fact that we are doing this ourselves without any big outside help. It’s just local people looking out for each other and working the soil.
