Our farm is based at the Puthusseri House in Keezhara, which is a quiet spot near Cherukunnu in Kannur. It is a family-run place like Pavi-K-Ram And Sons Eco Farm. We focus on the eco-side of farming, which basically means we try to work with the land instead of against it. It is not always easy and sometimes the yields aren't as high as the big commercial farms, but we prefer it this way. We spend most of our time outside among the trees and the plants. The air is good here, and it is a nice change from the busier parts of the district. We don't have a corporate office with air conditioning. We mostly sit on the porch of the house to talk about what needs to be done next. There is always a list of chores, from fixing the irrigation to checking the compost. We aren't experts with big degrees; we just learned by doing and making plenty of mistakes along the way. Sometimes the rains are too much and we lose a few plants, but that is just part of the cycle. We don't put on any acts for anyone. If you visit, you will see us as we are, probably sweaty and working in the garden. It is a simple, practical life here in Kannur. We started this because it felt like the right thing to do for our family and the ground we live on.
