Suntara Cosmetics is based out in Tambaram, right at Plot B-1 in the Mepz area. Being in an export processing zone means things are a bit more structured around here. There’s security at the gates and a lot of rules about what comes in and out. Our building is a functional space where we handle the production and packaging of cosmetic items. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find a fancy lobby or plush carpets. It’s all concrete floors and metal tables, which is exactly what we need for the work we do. We have a good number of workers who come in from the surrounding parts of Chennai every day. The morning commute can be a bit of a pain with the traffic, but once everyone is in, the place really gets moving. We spend the day monitoring the machines and checking the quality of the batches. It’s loud sometimes, but that’s the sound of work getting done. We don't spend much time on fancy talk; we just focus on making sure the orders are packed right and the labels aren't crooked. The canteen is where we all catch up during the breaks, usually complaining about the heat or the latest cricket score. It’s just a normal factory life for us. We’ve been here in Phase-1 for a while and we’ve seen the zone grow quite a bit since we first started.
