About Attar Mohammed Dawood Brothers – Gifts in Kanchipuram
Our units are A-13 and 14 in the MEPZ area at Tambaram. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here, and the security at the gate can be a bit of a hassle sometimes. Inside Phase-I, things are mostly industrial. We have these two units where we handle all our stock. It’s not a shop where you walk in off the street to buy a single bottle. It’s more about the crates and the workers moving things around on pallets. The air in the warehouse usually smells quite heavy, a mix of various oils and the cardboard from the boxes. My brother and I handle the paperwork at a small desk tucked in the corner. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, but we just keep the shutters open to get a bit of a breeze. There are always trucks coming and going in the zone, so there is this constant background hum of engines. We spend a lot of time checking labels and making sure the counts are right. It’s honest work, even if it’s a bit repetitive at times. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and know most of the other people working in the nearby units. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or corporate goals. We just show up, get the orders sorted, and try to finish before the evening traffic starts back toward the city center.
