Sri Manju Plastics

The shop for Sri Manju Plastics is situated over in Kandasamy Nagar at Pl-12, Karambakkam, which is in the Porur area. It is a bit of a walk from the main road, but that keeps things a little quieter for us. We have been working with plastic molding and products here for a long time. The space is filled with the sound of the machines and the smell of warm plastic. It is not exactly a cool place to work, but we have big windows that we keep open to get whatever breeze we can. There are about five of us who work here regularly. We are all local people from around Porur. We don't spend money on fancy advertisements or marketing people. Most of our work comes from businesses that have been buying from us for a decade or more. The floor is usually covered in some kind of scraps that we have to sweep up at the end of every shift. We start our day early, usually before the sun gets too high, so we can finish the heavy lifting before the peak heat hits. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to spend half the day fixing them ourselves with whatever tools we have on hand. It is a practical life, and we don't try to make it sound like anything more than what it is. We just try to get the orders out to our neighbors on time every single week.
