Iconic Granite

We set up shop at 73/2 Mettu Street in Deivasigamani Nagar. It’s a quiet enough corner of the neighborhood, though the trucks make some noise when they come through the narrow streets. We deal with granite all day long. It’s a lot of physical work to keep everything sorted and moved into the right spots. We have pieces in all sorts of colors, mostly blacks and greys that we get from the quarries. Some people come in and want to touch every single slab before they make a choice. We don't mind that at all. Stone is something you have to see and feel in person. The sun hits the yard in the morning and makes the polished surfaces shine really bright. By noon, it’s usually too hot to stay out there for long without a hat. We usually retreat to the shade of the overhang. We have a small table where we sit and eat our lunch together. Deivasigamani Nagar is a good community to be part of. We know the people at the tea stall down the road and they know our names. We don’t use a lot of big words to describe the stone we sell. It’s just rock from the ground that looks nice once it’s cut and polished. Our shed is full of tools, chains, and measuring tapes. Things get misplaced sometimes, but we always find them eventually under a pile of dust. We just keep at it and try to stay dry when it rains.
