Gayathri Marbles

You can find us over in Masilamani Nagar, right on the Poonamallee Bye Pass Road. We are pretty close to Savitha Dental College, which is usually how people find their way to us. We’ve got a lot of marble sitting in the yard. It is a lot of white and grey stone mostly, stacked up where people can walk around and see them. We don’t have fancy air conditioning or a front desk with a receptionist. It is just the guys working the yard and helping load the trucks. The sun gets pretty hot out here on the bypass, but we are used to it by now. We’ve been at this spot for a while, watching the traffic go by toward the city. People stop in when they are building their houses in the new developments around here. We just show them what we have and tell them the price. There isn't any pressure. We like to keep things straightforward. Marble is a tricky thing to move because it breaks easy, so we have to be careful every single day. We spend most of our time out there in the dust, shifting slabs around so the best ones are on top. It’s a basic life, but we like being our own bosses here in Poonamallee. It gets noisy with the traffic, but we don't notice it much anymore after being here so long.
