Govt Highs School For Boys (Training College), Rajahmundry

This school has been in Rajahmundry for a long time. It’s the Govt High School For Boys, and the training college part is here too. The building shows its age, but that’s just how government buildings are. You see the guys in their uniforms hanging out near the entrance before the first bell rings. It’s right in the middle of Rajahmundry, so it gets quite dusty with all the traffic passing by. The 533101 area is usually humming with noise. Inside, the hallways are high and cool, which helps during those really hot summer months we get. There are always student teachers around because of the training college, so you see a lot of new faces trying to figure out their lesson plans. The desks have names carved into them from years ago. We don’t have fancy air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just ceiling fans and big windows. Sometimes the fans squeak, but you get used to it. The playground is mostly dirt, but it gets used for every sport you can think of. It’s a practical place. We focus on getting through the syllabus and making sure the exams happen on time. There’s a lot of paperwork to deal with in the office, and the wooden cupboards are overflowing with files. It’s just a regular old school doing its job every day for the boys in the neighborhood.
