Our place is located at 5 Umaid Bhawan Palace Road, which is a busy enough spot here in Jodhpur. We deal with art and furniture that goes out to other countries, but our setup is pretty straightforward. You’ll mostly find us in the yard or the back shed, surrounded by crates and pieces of wood. There’s usually a truck parked out front or someone loading up boxes. It gets really hot in the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy packing done early in the morning when there's a bit of a breeze. We have a small office, but most of the time is spent checking the finishes on the items or making sure things are wrapped properly so they don't break on the long journey. There’s a constant smell of varnish and sawdust in the air. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes with all the packing materials lying around, but we know where everything is. The staff here are locals who have been with us for a while, and they know their way around a toolbox. We aren't doing anything flashy. We just receive the goods, check them over, get them packed into containers, and handle the paperwork. It’s a lot of physical work and staying on top of the shipping schedules. People walk by on their way to the palace, but we’re just here doing our daily routine, making sure the orders are ready to go out on time.
