Hira Lal Kala Udyog

Out here in Pratap Nagar, things are a bit different than the main city center. Our place is H-26 in the U.I.T. Colony, so it is more of a quiet neighborhood where people actually live. We have been working from this spot for years, and most of the neighbors know us by now. It is a mix of a house and a workspace, which is how a lot of businesses start around here. In the mornings, you can hear the birds before the work starts and the noise picks up. We do a lot of the manual work right there in the yard or the back room. Sometimes it gets a bit messy with all the materials lying around, but we try to clear a path so people can walk through. It's not like those big factories you see in the papers. It is just a small operation with a few of us. We keep our old ledgers on a wooden shelf that’s seen better days. When the sun sets, the colony gets really peaceful again, and we usually wrap things up then. If you are looking for us, you have to keep an eye out for the house number because it’s easy to miss if you aren't paying attention. The local tea seller comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take our only real breaks. It’s just how things go for us.
