Ramjeevan Rameshwar

The shop has been here in Mirchi Bazar for a good while now. Every morning, we pull up the shutters and see the same street waking up in Jodhpur. Ramjeevan Rameshwar is just a name on the board, but for us, it is where we spend the whole day. Sometimes it gets really crowded out there in the 342001 area, especially with all the spice sellers nearby. You can smell the chilies in the air most afternoons. It makes you sneeze if you aren't used to it. We sit here on our wooden stools and wait for the regulars to come by. The fan overhead makes a bit of a clicking sound but it keeps the heat away. My father used to say that the market never sleeps, and even when it's quiet, there's always something to do like fixing the display or checking the old registers. We don't really do anything fancy here. It’s just a plain place with walls that probably need a new coat of paint soon. People know us by the name and they know where to find us in this corner of the bazaar. Sometimes the tea boy comes twice because we forgot we already had some. It’s just how things go. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us making sure everything is where it should be. Life in Mirchi Bazar is loud and messy, but it is home for this business.
