Shiv Cotton Wicks

Shiv Cotton Wicks is located inside Jalori Gate, right near Bal Vidhya School. It’s an old part of town, so the streets are narrow and always full of life. We make cotton wicks here, which is a slow and steady process. There is a lot of raw cotton around the shop, and we spend most of our day preparing it and twisting it into the right shapes. It’s a very manual job, and our hands are usually busy from morning until evening. Being near the school means we hear the kids during their breaks, which adds a bit of energy to the day. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. People from the neighborhood come by when they need wicks for their lamps at home or for local temples. The shop is small and simple, with just enough room for the materials and a few places to sit and work. We don't have any big machines; it's mostly done by hand with a few simple tools. Sometimes it gets a bit warm inside, but we keep the door open to the street. It’s a quiet kind of business, not like the big factories you see elsewhere. We just focus on making sure the cotton is clean and the wicks are even. It’s what we know how to do, and we’ve been doing it right here near Jalori Gate for years without much changing.
