Green Garden Seeds & Nursery

If you come down to 3rd Cross in the 1st Block of Jayanagar, you will see Green Garden Seeds & Nursery. It is a little green patch in the middle of all the houses and concrete. We have got rows of pots and bags of soil everywhere. The ground is almost always a bit damp because of the watering. It smells like wet earth and flowers most of the time, which is nice. We are not a big commercial garden center. It is more of a local spot where people come for a few saplings or some seeds for their balcony. We spend most of our time getting our hands dirty, repotting things or checking for bugs. Sometimes the stray cats come in and sleep under the benches. We do not mind. It is a quiet life compared to the main roads nearby. We do not have a computer system or anything. We just write things down in a notebook. If we do not have something, we tell people where else they might find it. We know which plants do well in this Bangalore weather and which ones will die if you look at them wrong. People come in with photos of their dying plants and we try to guess what happened. We are not experts with degrees, just people who have been around plants for a long time. It is a slow business. You cannot rush a tree into growing. We just wait and watch things turn green.
