Ganesh Handicrafts

Our shop, Ganesh Handicrafts, is tucked away at 84 Nai Sarak. If you’ve ever walked down this street, you know how crowded it gets with all the rickshaws and people pushing carts. We’ve been here for quite a while now. The building is one of those old ones with high ceilings and narrow stairs that creak every time you go up. Every morning starts the same way—unlocking the heavy lock on the shutter and letting the morning light hit the dusty floor. It’s not a big fancy showroom or anything. It’s mostly just shelves piled high with stuff and a couple of wooden desks where we sit and do the accounts. Sometimes the power goes out in the middle of the day, so we just sit on the front step and watch the world go by until it comes back on. We have a small fan that wobbles a bit, but it keeps us cool enough during the summer months. There’s a tea stall just two doors down that brings us chai in glass tumblers twice a day. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't found the time to move everything out of the way. We mostly just focus on getting the orders ready and making sure everything is where it should be. It’s a bit messy sometimes, with cardboard bits on the floor, but that’s just how we work here at 84 Nai Sarak. It's just a regular part of the street.
