Ajax Furniture

Our workshop, Ajax Furniture, is at Plot No. E-323 on Gali Number 8. We are in the Mia Basni 2nd Phase, right across from the AIIMS Residential Complex. It’s a busy spot in Jodhpur. You can always hear the sound of saws cutting through wood or the hum of a sander. Being across from the AIIMS complex makes it easy for people to find us. The street, Gali No-8, is usually busy with people moving materials and finished pieces. Our plot is mostly filled with wood stacks and workbenches. It isn't a showroom where everything is shiny and perfect. There is sawdust everywhere and the smell of varnish is pretty strong. We are a small group of workers. We don't wear suits. Most of us are in old clothes that we don't mind getting dirty. We spend our days measuring, cutting, and putting things together. Sometimes a piece takes longer than we thought, and we have to work into the evening. We don't really have a big sales pitch. If you want some furniture made, you come by the plot and we talk about it. It’s a very hands-on way of doing things. We like being in Mia Basni. It’s an area where people actually make things with their hands. We just focus on the wood and the tools and try to get the orders finished on time.
