New Satndard Cast

Over here at Plot No. 4/d in GIDC-1, things are usually pretty loud and dusty. We are right in the Shankar Tekri Udyognagar area of Jamnagar. It is an industrial spot, so you can always hear machines running nearby. Our place, New Satndard Cast, is basically a big workshop where we spend most of our hours. It’s hot in the summer, especially near the furnaces, but we are used to it by now. My dad actually started this whole thing years ago, and we've just been keeping it going since. We don’t have any fancy office furniture or air conditioning in the main area. It is just brick and metal and hard work. Most of our guys have been with us for a long time, so we know each other well. We eat lunch together sometimes, sitting on whatever crates or benches are available. The roads around here in the GIDC are a bit rough, especially after the monsoon, but the trucks still manage to get in and out with the loads of metal. We spend a lot of time checking the molds and making sure the metal is right. It isn’t the kind of job where you stay clean. By the end of the shift, everyone is covered in something or other. We just try to do the work as it comes in. There’s no big secret to it. We just show up, do the casting, and go home to our families. It’s just a regular Jamnagar business doing its part.
