Hardhol High School is a big part of life in Dhrol. Since we are in a smaller town like this in Jamnagar, everyone knows where the school is. It’s a simple building with a lot of open space around it. In the mornings, you can see students coming in from the surrounding areas, some on foot and others on cycles. The cycles are all lined up in the shed, and sometimes it’s a bit of a mess to find yours at the end of the day. Our classrooms are pretty basic. We have the usual wooden furniture and windows that we leave open to catch the breeze, though it’s mostly just hot air in the afternoons. The teachers here have a lot of work to do, especially with the older kids who are getting ready for their board exams. We have a small staff that has been together for a long time, so we all know each other’s habits. The lunch break is the loudest time, with kids running around the grounds and the sound of metal tiffins. We don't have any high-tech gadgets or fancy labs with expensive equipment. We use what we have, like old maps and basic science kits. The office is always full of parents coming in to ask about their kids or to pay fees. It’s a very local feel here. When school lets out, the whole street gets busy for a few minutes before things go back to being quiet in Dhrol again.
