Shishu Vihar Hindi High School

You’ll find Shishu Vihar Hindi High School over at 52, Girdhari Lal Jagatramka Bhavan on the 80 Fite Road in Jamnagar. It’s a busy area, specifically near Khodiy, and the school is tucked into a building that has been around for decades. Since we are a Hindi medium school, we get a lot of students whose families moved here for work in the various industries around Jamnagar. The classrooms are often a bit crowded because we try to accommodate as many kids as we can. It’s noisy and lively, with the sound of Hindi lessons being recited throughout the day. The furniture is old-fashioned, mostly heavy wooden desks that have been scratched up by generations of students. We don’t have much of a fancy campus, but we make use of every corner of the building. During the lunch break, the hallways are packed with kids eating from their tiffin boxes. Our teachers are local people who have been with us for a long time, and they don't just teach; they often help out with family problems or paperwork for the parents who aren't very educated. It’s a practical place. We focus on the basics of reading, writing, and math. It gets quite dusty with the traffic on 80 Fite Road, but we just keep the windows open and carry on with our work every day to help these kids get through their schooling.
