About Sail Refractory Unit – Metals & Minerals in Jamnagar
Over in Sector-Iv on Indira Gandhi Marg, you’ll find our unit. It’s an industrial area, so there isn't much green to look at, just a lot of grey buildings and trucks. We deal with refractories, so there is always a lot of heavy lifting and heat involved in the day-to-day work. The bricks we handle are heavy and the floors are always covered in a bit of grit. People come and go in shifts, and there is a small tea stall just down the road where everyone goes to get away from the noise for twenty minutes. The paperwork piles up on the metal desks and the fans just move the warm air around without doing much. We’ve been in this spot for a while and the building shows its age with some cracks in the plaster and faded paint. On Indira Gandhi Marg, you can hear the distant sound of the bigger plants, but our unit is a bit quieter than the main steel works. We keep the gates open during the day so the air circulates better. It’s physical work and by the end of the day, everyone is ready to head home. We don’t do much fancy talking here, we just make sure the materials are stacked right and the orders are moving out on time. The lights in the back section are a bit dim but we know our way around the stacks perfectly even when the sun starts setting.
