K. S. Foundry

K. S. Foundry is over at 521/4, Shanker Tekari in Udyognagar. If you know the area, you know it’s where a lot of the heavy work happens. A foundry is a hot place to work, there’s no way around that. We spend our time melting metal and pouring it into molds. It’s sweaty, dirty work, but it’s what we do. The floor is covered in sand and bits of iron. We’ve got the big furnaces going most of the day, and you can feel the heat from them even before you walk through the main doors. It’s a loud environment too, with the sound of the blowers and the metal clanging around. We make all sorts of castings for different industries. Some are big, some are small. Each one takes time to get right. We don’t have a fancy front office; usually, you just find someone on the shop floor if you need to talk. The guys here are used to the hard work. We take breaks when we can and try to stay hydrated. It’s an old-fashioned kind of business. We don’t use much computer stuff, mostly just our hands and the machines we’ve had for years. People come to us because they know we’re always here at Shanker Tekari. We just keep our heads down and keep pouring the metal into the shapes people ask for. It’s been our way of life for quite a while now.
