General Engineering Works

Out here in the Udhyog Nagar area, things are mostly about getting your hands dirty and getting things built. Our shop is located at Office No. 36 in the Dig Vijay Plot, right in Shanker Tekri. It’s an engineering works, so there is usually a pretty loud noise coming from the machines running all through the day. We do a bit of everything when it involves fixing metal parts or making something new from scratch. The office itself is just a small, cramped corner of the plot where we keep the records and take down the orders from customers. It’s often dusty because of the industrial zone we are in, but that’s just part of the job. We’ve had some of these same machines since the day we first opened up. They might be old, but they still work a lot better than some of the newer, flimsy stuff you see today. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room; you usually just walk in and find whoever is free to talk. It’s a very practical setup for the kind of heavy work we do every day. Most of our hours are spent measuring things carefully and making sure the cuts are exactly right. It isn't glamorous work, but it is what we know how to do. The neighbors are all other workshops and factories, so we all get along pretty well and help each other out when a machine breaks down or someone needs a tool. That is how things work.
