Unique Engineering Works

Over at K-1/200 in GIDC-1, Shankar Tekri, you will find Unique Engineering Works. Jamnagar’s Udyognagar is a place where everyone seems to be making something out of brass or steel every day. We are right in the thick of it all. Our workshop isn't the biggest on the block, but we crammed a lot of functionality into the limited space we have. We handle a variety of engineering tasks, from simple drilling to more complex machining when a specific request comes in. The walls are lined with wrenches and various spare parts we’ve collected over the years. It’s a bit messy, but there is a system to the clutter that only we really understand. When a new job comes in, we sit down and figure out the best way to tackle it with the tools we have on hand. We don't use any fancy software for our planning, just some chalk on the workbench or a pencil and a scrap of paper. The noise from the neighboring units is constant, so we’ve learned to talk very loud to be heard over the din of the machines. It’s hard work, and our backs usually ache by the time we lock up the gate for the night. We’ve been at this for quite a while now and have seen many people come and go from this area. We just stay focused on the lathe and the quality of the work we finish for the folks who come by.
