General Engineering Works

The shop is located at 36, Digvijay Plot, and it’s been General Engineering Works for as long as I can remember. It’s a bit of a cluttered place, honestly. We have machines everywhere and there’s always the smell of grease and metal in the air. It’s not the kind of place you’d want to wear nice clothes to. Most of the day is spent fixing things or trying to figure out why a part isn't fitting right. We have a lot of tools hanging on the walls and some on the floor where they probably shouldn't be. Digvijay Plot is a busy area, so there’s always someone stopping by to ask a question or drop off a repair. We don't have a fancy reception desk or anything like that. You just walk in and find one of us. Usually, we’re covered in some kind of oil. It’s loud because of the lathes and the grinding, so we end up shouting to hear each other. We’ve had the same workbench for years, and it’s got the scars to prove it. Sometimes we stay late when a job is being stubborn. It’s just how it is with engineering stuff. You think it’ll take an hour and then it takes three. We just keep at it until the work is done. It’s a practical way to spend the day, even if it’s a bit messy and loud most of the time.
