National Building Construction Corporation Ltd

Our small office is located in Kishtwar. It’s the Regional Office for the National Building Construction Corporation Ltd. Being up here in Kishtwar means we deal with a lot of mountain terrain and different weather than the cities. We don't have a huge staff. It’s just a few of us making sure the construction projects stay on track. The office is pretty basic. We have a couple of computers and a lot of physical maps pinned to the walls. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait for the generator to kick in. That's just part of living and working in this region. We spend a lot of time on the phone or out visiting the actual building sites. It’s cold for a big part of the year, so we usually have a heater running in the corner. We eat our lunch together at a big wooden table in the back. There isn't any fancy lobby or receptionist. If you walk in, you’ll probably just see someone at a desk covered in papers. We are just trying to get the infrastructure built right. It’s a lot of coordination with workers and suppliers. We don’t do big speeches or flashy ads. We just show up every morning and see what needs fixing or building next. It’s quiet work mostly, but it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. We like the mountains though.
