Being stationed out here with Hq 10 Inf Div, things are pretty different from a normal office job. Our address is C/O 56 APO, which tells you a bit about how the mail gets to us. It’s a long process sometimes. We spend a lot of our time just managing the day-to-day operations and making sure the information goes where it’s supposed to. Life here is structured, but it’s not always smooth. The weather can be a real pain, and sometimes the supplies take forever to arrive. We’re deep into the 908410 pin area, so we are quite far from the big cities. Most days, it’s just about getting through the list of what needs doing. We drink a lot of strong chai and talk about when we might get some leave. There’s a lot of paperwork, more than you’d think, and the filing cabinets are always jammed. It’s not like those movies you see; it’s mostly just waiting and working and keeping the gear in order. The guys here are alright, we look out for each other because that’s just how it has to be when you’re out this far. We don’t have any fancy mission statements on the wall, just a calendar that someone forgot to flip over two months ago. It's just a regular group of us trying to stay busy and do what we're told. It can be a bit lonely, but we make the most of it.
