Our office up here in Jammu is at House Number 4, Sector 5A in Trikuta Nagar. Being part of the railway means there is always something going on with tracks or trains. This specific office handles a lot of the local logistics for the JK area. It’s a quiet residential-looking street, but we stay pretty busy inside. There are maps all over the walls and stacks of schedules on every desk. Trikuta Nagar is a decent area, though the weather can be a bit extreme sometimes. We have people coming in from different stations to file reports or check on project progress. It’s not a fancy headquarters. It’s more of a functional space where we drink a lot of coffee and talk about engineering problems. The furniture is old-fashioned, mostly heavy wooden desks that have been here for years. We deal with a lot of paperwork because of the nature of the railway. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to wait it out. It’s a steady job. We don’t have any big marketing slogans. We just try to make sure the trains are running where they’re supposed to go. People in the neighborhood know us as the railway office. We’ve been here since the project started moving into this region. It’s just a part of the daily life for those of us working in Jammu Tawi.
