Rathod Kaka Agro Producer Company Limited

Our company is based at Gut Number 31 in Ghansawangi Tanda. This is in the Jalna district. Most people around here just call it the Rathod family business because that is who runs it. We are a group of farmers who decided to pool our resources together a while back. Working alone was getting too hard with the rising prices and the way the market works for small growers. We use this spot as a base for collecting our crops and deciding where to send them. It’s a very local thing. We know everyone in the Tanda, and most of them are involved in one way or another. We don't have any polished brochures or fancy sales people to talk to. If you want to talk to us, you usually have to come down to the site and find someone working in the shed. The work is physically demanding and we are often quite tired by the end of the day. Jalna is known for its agriculture, but the water situation is always a big worry for us. We spend a lot of time talking about the monsoon and when is the best time to plant. We try to help each other out with equipment and seeds when someone is running short. It’s more of a community effort than a strictly business thing, though we have to keep the books right for the government. It’s just us trying to farm.
