Geetanjali Inter College

You’ll find Geetanjali Inter College in a village called Naglatal, which is part of Sasni in the Hathras district. It’s a very different feel from the big city schools. Everything is a bit slower here. The college is surrounded by fields and the road leading up to it is often dusty, especially when the tractors go by. The buildings are simple, one-story structures for the most part, with big windows to let in the breeze since we don’t have air conditioning. Students come from the nearby villages, some walking quite a distance or riding their cycles. It’s a place where everyone knows everyone else’s name. We don't have a lot of high-tech gadgets, just some books, blackboards, and a lot of patience. In the mornings, you can hear the birds more than you can hear cars. The staff room is a small space where we sit and talk about the crops or the weather while we wait for the next class. The address is 204216, but most people just know it as the college near the edge of the village. We don't try to be anything we’re not. It’s a practical place for local kids to finish their inter college years without having to travel all the way into the main town. Life here is basic and we just focus on getting the lessons done every single day.
