G B Public Inter College

You can find G B Public Inter College right near the Hathras Junction Railway Station in Mendu. Being so close to the tracks means you hear the whistles and the rumbling of the trains all through the day. It is something the students and teachers have just gotten used to over time. The school serves the local community in Hathras, and it gets quite crowded during the morning hours. The main gate is usually open, and you can see the local vendors selling snacks nearby. The building is old and has been repaired many times. Some of the windows don't close all the way, but it helps with the ventilation when the weather is sticky. We have a small open area where the students gather for their daily routines. It is an inter college, so we have a mix of younger kids and older teenagers. The desks are worn down from years of use, and you can see names carved into the wood here and there. In the rainy season, the area around the station gets quite messy, so everyone arrives with muddy shoes. There is a small staff room where the teachers sit and drink tea during their free periods. It is a busy, functional place that doesn't try to be anything it isn't. People in Mendu rely on it for their children's schooling, and it stays a central part of the local life near the junction. It is just a normal school.
