Smith Tools Co has been operating out of Dada Colony in the Industrial Area for quite some time. Our official address includes P.Box No. 435, which is how we still get a lot of our mail. The colony is full of small businesses like ours. We make and sell various tools, mostly for other local workshops. Walking into our place, you’ll see piles of steel and drawers full of different bits and pieces. It’s a bit of a maze if you don’t know where things are kept. I usually know exactly which shelf has what, even if it looks messy to an outsider. The walls are a bit stained from years of work, and we have an old calendar from five years ago still hanging up because no one bothered to take it down. We don't have a receptionist; if the bell rings, one of us just wipes our hands on a rag and goes to see who it is. Most of our customers are regulars who have been coming to us since we opened. We talk about the weather or the local news while we get their orders ready. It’s a slow and steady kind of life. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We just provide tools that do the job they are supposed to do. It’s quiet enough that you can hear the birds when the machines are off.
