Our workshop is at A-12 in the Industrial Development Colony. It’s a place filled with the smell of iron and the sound of lathes turning. We’ve been here at Sharp Chucks and Machines for years, and the building has seen a lot of work go through its doors. It’s not a modern, glass-walled factory; it’s a solid, older place where machines have their own permanent spots on the floor. Most of our guys have been working these same machines for a long time, so they know exactly how to get the best out of them. We spend the day making chucks and other machine parts, and there is always a layer of fine metal dust on everything by the afternoon. It’s the kind of place where we talk over the noise of the grinders and grab a quick cup of chai when we can. We don't have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters for us. We just know how to handle the metal and make sure the machines are looked after. The IDC is a busy neighborhood, and we fit right in with the other shops doing similar work. Sometimes it’s a struggle to keep everything organized when we have a lot of orders, but we manage to get it through. It’s just what we do here at A-12, day in and day out, without making a big fuss about it.
