Punjab Tadka

If you are driving along the Main Road in Adampur Doaba, you will probably see our place. We are right in the middle of Jalandhar City, and things stay pretty steady throughout the week. It’s a simple building, nothing that would stand out from the other shops around us, but people know where we are. We started Punjab Tadka because we wanted a place where local folks could just sit down and get something to eat without any fuss. The traffic outside can be heavy sometimes, especially with the buses and trucks moving through Jalandhar, but inside it stays okay. Most of the time, I’m standing behind the counter or checking on what is happening in the kitchen. We don't have a big team of waiters, just a few of us who have been working together for years. We know most of the people who come in by their first names since they live right around the corner or work in the nearby markets. The menu is just written on a board, and we change things depending on what we can get fresh that day. It is not a corporate chain or anything, just a small local business trying to make things work in Adampur. Sometimes we run out of things early, or the rain makes it a bit messy near the entrance, but we just clean it up and keep going. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until late at night.
