Balwinder Punjabi Dhaba

We are out on the Amritsar Highway, near Bidhipur Chowk in Jalandhar. Being on the highway means we see a lot of different faces every single day. Most of our customers are truck drivers or families traveling between cities. We have a lot of space for parking, which is important when you are located on a main road like this one. The dhaba is an open-air kind of place, so you can feel the breeze, or the heat, depending on the season. We do all our cooking in a way that reminds people of home. It is mostly dal, rotis, and seasonal vegetables. We do not use fancy plates or have waiters in suits. It is just us and a few helpers making sure the food is hot and ready. Jalandhar winters can be quite cold, so we usually have a fire going or plenty of hot tea ready for anyone stopping by. The highway never really sleeps, so we are used to people coming in at odd hours. We have been here for years, and we have seen the road get wider and the traffic get faster. Despite all the changes, we still do things the old way. It is a simple life, but we like meeting new people and hearing their stories while they eat. We just want to provide a decent meal to anyone passing through Bidhipur Chowk without making a big deal of it.
