Nirankari Dhaba

If you are driving on Hosiyapur Road in Jalandhar, you will find us near Johal Hospital at Ladhewali Chowk. This is Rama Mandi area, 144003, and it is a busy junction with a lot of trucks and cars passing by at all hours. We are a dhaba, so things are pretty informal around here. We have the tandoor going most of the day and there is always a pot of tea ready. It is a lot of hard work, especially when the weather is dusty or raining. We don't have a fancy dining room with air conditioning; it is more about getting a hot plate of food and a place to sit for a bit. The staff is mostly guys who have been doing this for years. We buy our flour and lentils in big bags and go through them fast. There is no corporate manual on how to run things. We just know that people are hungry and they want their food quickly. Sometimes the noise from the Rama Mandi traffic is a lot, but you get used to it. We keep the place open long hours because you never know when someone will pull over. It is a basic life, but it keeps us busy and the kitchen stays warm. We just keep our heads down and cook for whoever stops by.
