Wood Crafts is tucked away at 88 Malviya Nagar in Mauji Colony. It’s a pretty quiet neighborhood, which is nice when we’re trying to focus on a difficult piece. We aren’t a big operation by any means. It’s just a small shop where the smell of cut wood is always hanging in the air. We’ve been at this location for several years now. The space is a bit cramped because we keep so many logs and planks around. Sometimes you have to step over a few things to get to the back. We don’t have a professional cleaning crew. We just sweep up at the end of the day, though there’s always more sawdust the next morning. We aren’t interested in becoming some massive furniture chain. We just like the feel of wood and the way things look when they’re finished. Sometimes we make mistakes and have to start over. That’s just part of the process. Neighbors in Mauji Colony often walk by and peek in to see what we’re working on. We don’t mind. It’s good to be part of the local community. We don’t have any slick marketing or big signs. Just the name on the door and the sound of the saws. We just want to keep working here for as long as we can.
