We work out of Plot D Special in the Godown Industrial Estate, down Lane No. 1. It’s an industrial area, so it’s not the prettiest place to visit, but it gives us the room we need for the machines. We make a variety of creative items here, mostly stuff that people use for decor or specific projects. It’s a mix of workshop smells—paint, metal, and sawdust depending on what we’re working on that week. The space is big enough that we can spread out, which is good because things get messy fast. Usually, there’s about four or five of us in here making things by hand. We don't use a lot of automated stuff because we like to keep an eye on the details ourselves. The light in the morning is actually pretty good through the high windows, which helps when we're doing the fine work. Sometimes the power goes out in the estate and we all just sit outside and have tea until it comes back on. It’s a quiet life mostly, just focused on the orders we have on the bench. People usually find us because they saw something we made at a friend’s place. We aren't really into the whole marketing scene. We just prefer to stay here in the lane and finish the work on time. The gate squeaks every time someone comes in, and the dog from the next unit usually comes over to visit around noon.
