Swaroop Narain Radhey Shyam

This shop has been in the family for a long time. We are located at Khanda Baiji Ka Manak Chowk in Badi Chaupar. If you know the old city, you know how the streets are narrow and full of history. The building is very old with thick walls that keep the heat out in the summer. We sit on the cushions on the floor mostly, which is the traditional way here. Badi Chaupar is right in the middle of everything. You can see the tourists taking photos of the Hawa Mahal not far away. We sell traditional items and our customers are often people whose grandfathers shopped with our grandfathers. There is a lot of noise from the pigeons and the traffic outside. We don't have air conditioning, just the old ceiling fans that clatter a bit. The shelves are filled with things we have been selling for decades. We drink a lot of tea throughout the day and talk to the other shopkeepers. It is a slow way of doing business, but we don't see any reason to change it. We know the history of every corner of this chowk. It is our home as much as it is our place of work. We just keep the doors open and wait for the day to pass. It is a simple existence.
