Sharda Roadlines

Our spot is at S B-1 in Transport Nagar. If you’ve ever been to Transport Nagar, you know it’s a world of its own. There are trucks everywhere you look and the smell of diesel is always in the air. Sharda Roadlines operates from a fairly small office here. It’s usually cluttered with manifests and receipts. We sit here most of the day, talking to brokers and drivers. The phone rings a lot. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to wait it out. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. We’ve seen the area change over the years, more buildings going up and more traffic on the main roads. We mostly handle long-distance routes. It requires a lot of patience to deal with the paperwork and the different regulations in every state. We have a small crew and everyone knows their job. There’s no need for big meetings or fancy presentations here. We just look at the schedule and see what needs to be loaded next. Sometimes things break down and we have to figure out a fix on the fly. That’s just part of the daily routine in this business. We stay open late most nights because that is when the long-haul trucks arrive. It's a practical life, centered around the yard and the highway. There is always someone coming or going, so the office is never really quiet for very long.
