Setia Caterers is based at 162, Parnami Mandir, Raja Park. It is a very busy part of town, especially with the temple being so close to our door. We hear the bells and the music throughout the day while we are busy with our work. The setup we have is very basic. We have a few long tables for cutting vegetables and some large gas burners in the back. Most of the people working here are friends or family, so we talk a lot while we work. We do not do any marketing or have a salesperson. People usually find us because they live nearby or someone told them about us. We cook a lot of traditional dishes for family gatherings and religious events. Sometimes the street gets very crowded during temple festivals and we have to carry everything by hand to the main road because the vans cannot get through. It can be a struggle, but we are used to it by now. I handle the phone calls and the orders myself while also helping out in the kitchen when needed. Setia Caterers is a small, local operation and we like keeping it that way. We know the people in Raja Park and they know us. There is always the smell of spices in the air and a bit of a mess on the counters. We just take it one day at a time and keep the stoves burning.
