S R Handicraft

Down at 37 Shyam Nagar in Balaji Vihar, that’s where you’ll find S R Handicraft. We’re tucked away on 30 Benard Road, right behind Nadi Ka Phatak. It’s a bit of a maze back here if you aren't from the area, but we’ve been in this spot for a good while now. The workshop isn’t anything fancy to look at. It’s just a place where we get things done. We usually have a few different projects going on at once. Sometimes it’s wood, sometimes it’s metal, just depends on what people are asking for that week. The noise from the trains near the phatak is something you just get used to after a few days. We don’t have a big team of people or a fancy office with air conditioning. It’s mostly just us working with our hands and using tools that have seen better days but still work fine. We don't really do much in the way of advertising or marketing. Most of the people who come to us heard about the shop from a neighbor or saw us working while they were passing by. We try to keep the place somewhat tidy but there’s always dust and scraps around. That’s just part of making things, I guess. We open up pretty early when it’s still cool outside and usually head home once the sun goes down. It’s simple work but it keeps us busy and we like being part of the neighborhood here.
