Ratnadeep Ice Cream

Our shop is on Pratap Nagar Road, right across from the Vihae Cinema. It is a great spot because whenever a movie finishes, a whole crowd of people comes pouring out of the theater. We have to be ready for those rushes because they happen all at once. At Ratnadeep Ice Cream, we have several large freezers lined up against the wall. The space is a bit narrow so it can get crowded when more than five or six people are inside at the same time. We spend a lot of our shift handing out cones and cups as fast as we can. The noise from the traffic on Pratap Nagar Road is constant and you can always hear the music or the sounds from the cinema lobby. We have a small sink in the back where we wash everything up. The walls have a few old posters and the ceiling fan wobbles a bit when it is on high. It is a very lived-in space and not like those fancy parlors you see in the malls. We know the cinema staff and they often come over for a break. Sometimes we run out of napkins or spoons during a big movie premiere and have to run to the store. It is a busy life but we enjoy being right in the middle of all the action.
