If you walk past the Ayurvedic College near Jorawar Singh Gate, you’ll see us right there. Rajasthani Handicrafts And Textiles has been sitting on Amer Road for quite some time. It’s a busy spot with people heading toward the forts and students moving about. Our shop is filled with all sorts of fabrics and hand-made pieces that we get in from various makers. It’s often a bit chaotic inside because we have so much stuff packed into the space. We don’t really have a fancy layout or a team of decorators. It’s just us moving things around and trying to make space for the new textiles that arrive every week. Working near the gate means there is always noise from the street, but you get used to it after a few days. We spend our time helping folks pick out what they need and folding up rugs or clothes. It’s honest work and it keeps us on our feet. Sometimes the tea man comes by and we take a quick break, but otherwise, we are busy from morning till evening. We don’t use any big words to describe what we do. We just sell crafts and cloth to whoever needs them. It’s a simple way to make a living and we like being right in the middle of all the action on Amer Road. The building is old but it serves us well enough for now.
