Ahuja Glass & Picture House

You can find us at Shop No-33 in Nehru Bazar. Ahuja Glass & Picture House has been a part of this market for quite a long time. The shop is usually filled with sheets of glass and various frames leaning against the walls. It is a bit of a tight squeeze when we have a lot of stock, but we know where everything is. Nehru Bazar is always crowded, with people walking by and scooters trying to get through the narrow lanes. There is a lot of shouting and noise from the other shops, which is just how market life is. We spend our days cutting glass to size and fitting pictures into frames. It is dusty work, so there is always a layer of glass dust on the counters that needs cleaning. We don't have a big fancy showroom. People just walk in with something they want framed, and we talk it over across the main counter. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to work by the light coming in from the front door. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the city; we just want to do the work that comes in. Most of our customers are locals who have been coming to the bazar for years. It is a very grounded, hands-on business. We just take it one frame at a time and keep the shop running as best we can. Sometimes we even have to work on the sidewalk if the frame is too large.
