R K Frames

You can find R K Frames at A-5 Amer Road in Krishna Puri, right on the Old Ramghar Road. It’s a shop filled with bits of wood, glass, and a lot of dust from the cutting machine. We’ve been framing pictures and mirrors for people in this neighborhood for a long time. The shop is quite small and every wall is covered with different types of frame samples. It’s a bit of a maze inside. We spend a lot of time measuring things out and making sure the corners fit just right. It’s a lot of hand work. Sometimes we get someone who wants a simple frame for a family photo, and other times it’s a big mirror that takes two people to carry. Amer Road is always noisy with tourists and traffic heading toward the forts, but inside the shop, we just focus on the task at hand. We have a small workbench in the back where all the assembly happens. There’s usually a bit of sawdust on the floor no matter how much we sweep. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just see the shop when they are passing by or hear about us from a neighbor. It’s a simple trade. We take a piece of art and put a border around it. It’s steady work and we enjoy seeing the finished pieces when they are all cleaned up and ready to go home.
