Pratima Mandir is tucked away in Chandpole Bazar. To find us, you have to go down Khajane Walon Ka Rasta and look for the 2nd crossing. It’s a narrow lane, very traditional, and can be quite a squeeze if you’re not used to it. We spend our days here working on various items, mostly things people use for their homes or for worship. There’s always the sound of tools hitting stone or metal around here. It’s a craft that takes a lot of patience. We aren't a big factory or anything. It's more of a workshop where we keep things moving at our own pace. The air is often filled with bits of shavings and the smell of raw materials. We don't have a big storefront with glass windows. It's more open, where you can see what we're doing if you walk by. People come to us when they want something that isn't just made by a machine. We’ve stayed at this same crossing for years because it’s where the other craftsmen are too. It feels right being part of this old part of the city. We don't have fancy brochures to hand out. If someone wants to see our work, they just come into the shop and look around. It's a quiet life of making things by hand. Sometimes we get busy with big orders, but mostly it's just steady work.
