If you are ever near the Chitrakoot Stadium in Vaishali Nagar, you might see our small shop. We are at B-32 on Chitrakoot marg. It’s a pretty busy street, especially when there is a match or something going on at the stadium. We mostly deal with snacks, and as the name says, pakodas are what we do here. The oil is usually hot by early afternoon and stays that way until we close up at night. It can get pretty smoky inside the shop, so we try to keep the front open for the breeze. We have a few benches for people to sit on, but a lot of people just stand around or take their food to go. We see all kinds of people, from students to folks heading home from work. Jaipur gets very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer, so the mood changes with the seasons. When it rains, we get a huge rush because everyone wants something fried and warm. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us working the fryers and taking the money. It’s a simple life. We don't worry about being fancy or having expensive furniture. We just focus on getting the batter right and making sure the tea is hot. The floors get a bit oily and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it’s a real place for real people who want a snack. We just do the work.
