My family has been at 1248 Chanakya Marg for a long time. You can find us right behind the statue of Subash Chandra Bose at Subhash Chowk. It’s a busy area, but once you get inside Malhotra Handloom House, it’s a bit quieter. We mostly spend our days dealing with curtains, bedsheets, and all kinds of hand-woven stuff. People come in looking for specific patterns or just to feel the fabric before they buy it. It’s not a fancy place, just shelves full of stock that we keep organized as best as we can. Sometimes the pile gets high, but we know where everything is. We spend a lot of time talking to folks about what kind of material lasts longer or which colors might fade in the sun. It's just what we do every day. The street outside is always noisy with traffic, but that’s just how it is here. We’ve seen the neighborhood change over the years while we stay here working with textiles. Most of our regulars know us by name now. We just open up in the morning, sweep the front, and start showing people what we have in stock. There’s no big secret to it, just keeping the shop running and making sure the inventory is decent. If you’re passing the statue, you’ll see our sign. It’s a simple setup but it works for us and the people who shop here in the city.
