Kanishka Decoratives

Our shop, Kanishka Decoratives, is at Shop No- 10/1 in Malviya Nagar. Jaipur is a beautiful city, but this little corner is just a normal, busy street. We have been in this spot for a good while. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stack things pretty high to make everything fit. If you come in, you’ll probably see me moving boxes around or trying to find a specific catalog that got buried. The floor is a bit uneven and the paint on the door is peeling a little, but it works for us. Malviya Nagar is a good neighborhood to be in. There is always someone walking by, and the market nearby stays active until late. I usually have a radio playing in the background to keep things from being too quiet. People often drop in just to say hello or ask about the weather. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just a local shop where we deal with what’s right in front of us. Kanishka Decoratives is where I spend most of my waking hours. Some days the phone doesn't stop ringing, and other days I have time to sit on the stool out front and watch the world go by. It isn't a glamorous life, but it’s ours. I make sure to sweep the floor every evening before I pull the shutter down for the night. Sometimes I forget to turn off the back light.
