Habitz Ice Cream

Our little ice cream shop is right by Bapu Nagar Gate No 1. It’s a good spot because people are always walking past after they finish their shopping or whatever they’re doing nearby. The shop isn't very big, so it gets tight when more than five people come in at once. We have a couple of freezers that hum all day long, which can be a bit annoying if you’re standing right next to them. We spend a lot of time scooping and making sure the lids are closed tight so nothing melts. In the summer, it feels like we can never keep enough stock. Kids come in after school and they usually can't decide what they want, so there’s a lot of standing around. We don't have much for seating, just a few stools that wobble a little. My cousin painted the walls last year, but they already have a few marks on them. It’s a simple life here. We open up in the late morning and stay until the street lights come on. Sometimes people just want a cup of water, and that’s fine too. The floor gets a bit messy with drips, so we’re always grabbing the mop. We just do our thing every day and hope the power doesn't go out because that's the worst thing for a place like this.
