The Navjeevan Complex is a busy place and our unit is right there among all the other shops. If you walk in you’ll see shelves stacked right up to the ceiling with orange and blue boxes. Everything is about bearings here. We spend the day looking up part numbers and checking sizes with calipers. It’s greasy work sometimes and our hands usually have a bit of oil on them by lunch. The station road is always loud with horns and the sound of trains in the distance. We don't have much space for chairs so we are usually standing at the counter talking to mechanics or factory guys. They bring in a worn-out part and we have to find the exact match. It’s like a puzzle every day. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just have a phone that rings a lot and a ledger that we keep on the main desk. The light bulbs are those long tubes that flicker a bit when you first turn them on in the morning. We drink our tea standing up mostly because there is always someone waiting at the window. We’ve been doing this for years and we know which brands hold up and which ones fail under pressure. It’s not fancy but it’s what we know. The traffic outside is a mess but inside we have everything organized by size and type.
